Charlie’s Loving Memory Keeps Me From Feeling Lonely
Let me tell you about Charlie, son of Honey, and in my estimation the best dog that ever could be.
Honey was my son’s dog. He was born on Valentine’s Day in 2003 and my son and his three boys brought Charlie to me in Texas soon after my husband died in 2005. He loved to roam the fields when I rode my horse. When we moved to Oregon in 2011 I found Companion Pet Clinic.
Dr. Prince discovered cancer in Charlie’s lung and later behind his esophagus. Charlie didn’t know about it and went on as usual, so we opted out of surgery, which predicted only one more year of life. So glad we made that decision. With daily walks and a great quality of life, Charlie lived nearly three more years until his health declined.
After a trip to Portland to see grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and after a visit from granddaughter Ashly who had been his caretaker for two plus years while I was on a mission – family goodbyes were complete.
We went to Companion Pet Clinic where Dr. Prince met us and allowed us to be present as Charlie changed his address and I envisioned him joining my husband and his mom.
Dr. Prince was both compassionate and professional. The closure was beautiful. My home is still filled with Charlie. His loving memory keeps me from feeling lonely.
