Patient Visit: Treating Calvin & Monster for Hyperesthesia
I have had the pleasure of working with Calvin & Monster since they were under 3 months old. They both were born with some neurologic issues, but with the owner’s help we have been able to keep them healthy and happy.
Both have recently developed a mild case of hyperesthesia, a sensitivity to touch. When petted, they both actively lick the ground – as you can see in the video below. Some cats have a more severe case where touch can be painful.
There are various medications we can use to help pets with hyperesthesia. I welcome your questions or comments in the comment section below.
